RCCC (Community Group)

The Rhodes Community Consultative Committee (RCCC) meets monthly and is presented with updates and data on the remediation and development projects by the proponents involved.

Specifically, the Development Consents for the remediation projects require Thiess Services to provide the RCCC with technical, environmental and safety-related information.

The RCCC is comprised of residents and business representatives from communities surrounding the projects including Rhodes, Concord West, Homebush Bay, Liberty Grove, Meadowbank, West Ryde and Melrose Park.  The committee also includes representatives from non-government groups such as Friends of the Earth.  Additional members represent developers and remediators working in the area; State Government Departments such as Planning, Health, Commerce and Environment & Climate Change; and Local Government Councils such as Ryde and Canada Bay.

The RCCC has an independent Chairperson, Mr John Kent.  John’s contact details are 0419 497 033 or jk@wwsydney.com

The remediation Development Consents also require Thiess Services to provide funding for RCCC members to obtain independent technical advice from a suitably qualified person.  Dr Kate Hughes fulfils this role.  Kate can be contacted on (02) 4568 2021 or at katehughes@bordernet.com.au.

Should you wish to become a member of the RCCC, or attend a meeting as an observer, please contact the independent Chairperson, Mr John Kent, at jk@wwsydney.com, or the Thiess Services Community Relations Manager, Ms Catherine Fletcher, at rhodesremediation@thiess-services.com.au or 1800 009 414.

Meetings are usually held on the last Wednesday of each month from 6.00pm until 8.00pm.  The location may vary, so ensure you find out where the meeting is being held when you confirm your attendance.
