EIS - Lednez

A comprehensive Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for the remediation of the former Lednez/Union Carbide site and Homebush Bay was publicly released in December 2002, before the project was approved by government authorities.

Note: Many of the EIS documents below are large files. Should you have trouble downloading them, they are available on a CD-Rom.

After the EIS was completed, the project’s thermal treatment process changed from indirectly-heated thermal desorption (ITD) to directly-heated thermal desorption (DTD).  Information about the DTD process can be found in the ’Media Centre’ section of this website under ’Project Fact Sheets’ and ’Presentations’.  Additionally, a human health risk assessment has been completed since the EIS using actual project data - see the ’Health & Safety’ section of this website.
